Guidelines for using the VLE

Although it is possible to work solely through the tasks and activities on the CD-Rom, it is recommended that course managers embed the use of a VLE to enhance the learning experience by providing supplementary guidance, activities and resources such as audio and/or video clips. The VLE can also be used to provide a communication platform for contact between learners and tutors as well as between learners and keep participants up-to-date with any changes. The content of a good VLE should include a forum for discussion, for sharing resources and ideas as well as the capacity to provide extra information such as a list of participants, messages, quizzes, a calendar, upcoming events etc.
